DELEGATE ALERT

On behalf of WCIT 2008, we would like to extend our warmest thanks and appreciation to you for being a delegate at this much anticipated congress. To ensure a pleasant and productive experience for you during the congress, WCIT 2008 has prepared a host of services to provide all necessary information and guidance to you. Be assured that you will be taken care of the minute you arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) until the day you depart for home. 

For foreign delegates, upon arrival, you will be received by WCIT 2008 staff and ushered to a special lane for immigration. You will be assisted with baggage tagging and escort to coaches for transit to the panel hotels. You are entitled to return airport transfer on selected days.  

On arrival at the hotel, you will be assisted with hotel check-in and delegate registration, during which you will receive a delegate bag and tag.  

Alternatively, local including foreign delegates can collect your delegate bag and tag as follows. Please bring along your receipt or any form of identification like business card, identification card, etc to ease the registration process.

·         Venue: Registration Counter, Level Three, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

All delegates are invited to attend the WCIT 2008 Opening Ceremony on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Plenary Hall, Level 1, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. It will be officiated by Dato’ Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi, The Right Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, who will be arriving at 8.30 a.m.

As this year’s WCIT attendance is the highest ever at 3,225, we are anticipating a very full house and and it is imperative for all delegates to be seated in the Plenary Hall by 8am.

All delegates are also invited to official dinner functions as below.

Please bring along the invitation card found in the delegate bag to the dinner. Coach transportation will be provided from panel of hotels and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

As a gentle reminder, all foreign delegates must possess valid national passports or other internationally recognized travel documents valid for travel to Malaysia. These documents must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry into Malaysia.

WCIT 2008 DELEGATE TICKETS ABSOLUTELY SOLD OUT!

• Over 2700 delegates tickets booked against target of 2,500

The 16th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2008) has received overwhelming response to its sale of delegate tickets, with 2,716 delegates booked for the global forum on information and communications technology (ICT) on May 18 – 22, 2008.

As a result, the organizers have closed all channels for delegate registration including online and facsimile. On-site walk-ins will also not be available on the event dates.

Announcing this, WCIT 2008 Chief Executive Officer Dan E. Khoo said: “The global interest in WCIT 2008 has been phenomenal. We have actually exceeded our stretched target of 2,500 delegates. Traditional delegate sizes during previous editions of the World Congress on Information Technology have averaged 1,800 so we are truly enthused by the show of support for the event that Malaysia is hosting.”

16th World Congress on Information Technology

Kuala Lumpur is set to be the point of convergence for the largest-ever gathering of global leaders and decision makers on information and communications technology (ICT) during the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2008).

Held once every two years, WCIT is the premier global forum that brings together leaders in business, government and academia to impact economic and social development through the exchange of policies and ideas on technology.
